Chaque année aux États-Unis, au mois de janvier, la cérémonie des Golden Globes salue le meilleur du cinéma et de la télévision de l’année précédente. Organisée par une association de dizaines de médias internationaux, elle préfigure souvent les récompenses données, environ un mois plus tard, aux Oscars pour le monde du cinéma. La grande différence avec les Oscars ? Les Golden Globes scindent la majorité de leurs catégories en deux, opposant “drame” à “comédie ou comédie musicale”. A l’inverse, les Academy Awards décernés lors des Oscars ne récompensent que le “meilleur”, tous genres confondus. En 2019, par exemple, les films Bohemian Rhapsody et Green Book avaient respectivement obtenu les Golden Globes du meilleur drame et meilleure comédie de l’année 2018 tandis que seul Green Book avait remporté l’Oscar du meilleur film par la suite. La 77e cérémonie annuelle des Golden Globes se déroulera le 5 janvier 2020 et sera retransmise en direct exclusivement sur Canal+ en France.
